St John’s Crisis Centre
First Aid Accident & Emergency Help the Helpers
First Aid Accident & Emergency have teamed up with St John’s Crisis Centre by providing free first aid training, defibrillator training and first aid equipment. “As a 100% local first aid organisation, we felt compelled to help the team at St John’s”- Scott Whimpey, director of FAAE said, “locals supporting locals”.
St. John’s Drop-In Crisis Centre offers a caring hand-up. Based in the heart of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, St John’s is dedicated to helping locals who are in need of hot food, shelter from the streets, or friendly company in a warm welcoming environment.
St John’s Crisis Centre feeds up to 60 in-need people every day, many of which have existing medical conditions. Now the team at St John’s are prepared in case of a sudden cardiac arrest, with the addition of a new fully operational defibrillator and training from us here at First Aid Accident & Emergency.
As well as offering nutritious cooked meals, St John’s also assists those in need by accessing various organisations for help including the HOT Team (homeless health outreach team), Centrelink, Gold Coast Homelessness Hub, Gold Coast Youth Service, Orange Sky Laundry, Uniting Care Community, Psychologist, OZ Care, Hair Dressers, Podiatrist, Dentist, Narcotics Anonymous (who meet 3 times a week at St John’s Crisis Centre) and more.
