Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under the age of 18 are required to
provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian which can be accessed by clicking here.

There are no pre-requisites for this course however participants need to meet the minimum
physical and LLN requirements.

The HLTAID competency standards require a level of physical ability to provide first aid and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. Students are required to:

  • Perform 2 minutes of CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor
  • Perform 2 minutes of CPR on an infant manikin placed on the floor
  • Place a patient into the recovery position

Due to the potential risk to health and safety where a nominated first aider, or worker with a duty of care, does not have the ability to perform resuscitation and/or first aid to the performance standard, it is not appropriate to issue a statement of attainment to students who are physically unable to meet the assessment requirements. FAAE are unable to make adjustments to these requirements even if the qualification is a necessary part of the learner’s employment conditions.

If you feel you will be unable to meet the physical requirements, please contact the office prior to training on 07 5520 5068 to discuss the options available to you.

Participants will require sufficient LLN skills to successfully complete the course. These skills/tasks are:

  • Basic reading and writing skills in English
  • Ability to listen and understand verbal communication in English
  • Ability to count to 30, calculate basic ratios, use a timer and tell the time
  • Read and answer multiple choice questions in English
  • Fill in an accurate incident report form

Statement of Attainment for the units of competency:

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

In most cases a Statement of Attainment in the form of an A4 electronic pdf will be emailed on the day of training based on the following:

  • Successful completion of the required assessments
  • Verification of a valid USI
  • Course fees are paid in full

Where your training falls outside of normal business hours your Statement of Attainment will be emailed the next business day.

First Aid faq's

First Aid knowledge is extremely valuable for both you the individual and your community as it enables you to assist persons who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives. First Aid skills can be applied in the home, the workplace or in public locations, thus the more First Aid certified people there are in a community the safer it becomes.

For more information on the importance of First Aid training click here.
