Our FAAE Director Scott Whimpey had the honour of a hosting a First Aid course at the Queensland Allergy Service. Whilst many allergies can cause non-life-threatening symptoms, there is a growing number of children in particular developing allergies and anaphylaxis. In fact, Australia has the highest rate per capita of children suffering allergies in the world.
The awareness for allergies can be seen throughout schools and childcare with the ‘no nuts’ policy with the national Allergy Awareness Week further educating both children and adults on the increased number of people suffering with allergies.
The top causes of allergies in Australia are:
- Cow’s milk
- Eggs
- Peanuts
- Shellfish
- Sesame
- Soy
- Fish
- Wheat
- Tree nuts
At First Aid Accident & Emergency we provide individuals, childcare workers, teachers, GP’S with specialized training on how to deal with allergies and anaphylaxis including administering an Auto Injector. If you would like any more information on our first aid courses held in our training centre in Varsity Lakes or onsite, contact our head office today.
