First Aid Room for the Workplace

Workplace First Aid Requirements falls under each state’s First Aid Code of Practice, employers are legally obligated to ensure that appropriate first aid facilities, equipment, and trained personnel are available in the workplace. These measures are essential for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of all workers and visitors.

When is a First Aid Room Required: A designated first aid room is recommended or required based on the size and risk level of your workplace:

• Low-risk workplaces: A first aid room is recommended when there are 200 or more workers on site at any given time.
• High-risk workplaces: A first aid room is recommended when there are 100 or more workers on site.

Workplaces with fewer workers should still conduct a risk assessment to determine if a dedicated, clean, and quiet area is needed for treating injuries or illnesses in private.

Its the Employers Responsibilities: As an employer, you must ensure First aid equipment is provided and accessible to all workers. You musty also ensure Facilities are available for administering first aid and you have an adequate number of trained first aiders available on site, or workers have access to trained first aid personnel.
