Healthcare Professionals Refresh CPR Skills at Gold Coast Private Hospital

CPR workshop gold coast

Even experienced healthcare professionals’ benefit from refreshing their CPR skills. Recently, First Aid Accident & Emergency (FAAE) had the pleasure of running a tailored CPR workshop for medical professionals and GPs at Gold Coast Private Hospital. The session was designed for those eager to strengthen their emergency response skills within a clinical environment.

The workshop was led by Scott Whimpey, FAAE’s senior first response specialist, who has extensive experience training medical teams. Scott guided participants through the latest CPR techniques, AED operation, and critical incident response planning, ensuring the session was both informative and practical. Attendees had the opportunity to practice on adult and infant manikins, gaining hands-on experience essential for real-life emergencies.

Even for healthcare workers, CPR skills can become rusty over time. Daily routines may not always involve high-pressure emergencies, making it essential to practice regularly and stay updated with current guidelines. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends refresher courses to maintain proficiency, and our workshop allowed participants to do just that in a supportive and interactive environment.

Throughout the session, participants appreciated Scott’s approach, which combined practical instruction with the reasoning behind each step. Understanding the why as well as the how of CPR and AED use boosts confidence and ensures that skills can be applied effectively under pressure. By the end of the workshop, attendees left feeling well-prepared to respond to emergencies, reinforcing safety both in their workplace and across the wider community.

The session also highlighted the value of teamwork and communication during emergency situations. Practicing alongside colleagues helped participants improve coordination, clarify roles, and enhance decision-making during critical incidents. These soft skills, combined with technical knowledge, are what make emergency response truly effective.

While the Gold Coast CPR course was serious in its focus, it was also enjoyable and engaging. Scott’s approachable style, real-world examples, and interactive exercises kept participants motivated and involved throughout the day. Learning life-saving skills doesn’t have to feel daunting — it can be informative, practical, and even fun.

At FAAE, we’re proud to contribute to safer communities by empowering professionals with the confidence and skills to respond to emergencies. Every healthcare worker trained is someone who could potentially save a life, and programs like this ensure that expertise stays current and actionable.
