What You Need to Consider When Booking a First Aid Course

Enrolling in a First Aid course is always a good idea and having the confidence to help out someone who is in trouble is a great gift to have.

Whether you are assisting a family member, a colleague, a friend or a complete stranger, knowing what you are doing will have a huge impact on how the situation unfolds. Booking a Gold Coast First Aid course to learn how to administer basic First Aid, to deal with an asthmatic episode or even give CPR gives you a set of life skills that you might be glad of one day.

Of course, you will hope that you will never have to use these skills but knowing what to do in a situation where someone needs assistance is comforting.

Before you book a First Aid course, however, there are a few things that you should consider.

1. Choosing the Appropriate First Aid Course on the Gold Coast

Depending on your work environment, you may wish to enrol in one of our industry-specific First Aid courses. These tailored accredited courses, available at our Gold Coast training centres in Varsity Lakes and Coomera, aim to fulfil the requirements of particular workplace environments and their associated risk levels.

For example, if you work with children at a childcare centre or school, you may be best suited to enrol in our tailored Education and Childcare First Aid Course.

On the other hand, there are also specialised First Aid courses in Varsity Lakes and Coomera that we offer for those in construction and trades and in the marine industry such as our Low Voltage Rescue course. Additionally, you can choose from beginner and advanced CPR, First Aid and resuscitation courses, as well as First Aid courses in Varsity Lakes specifically designed to deal with asthma and anaphylaxis

At First Aid Accident and Emergency, we have a range of First Aid courses in Coomera and Varsity Lakes to choose from. If you are unsure as to which course will be the best fit for you, get in touch with our expert team and we will point you in the right direction.

2. Course Duration

When booking a First Aid course on the Gold Coast, you should be aware that different courses run for different lengths of time. The duration of each First Aid course depends on which course you choose and how what the course will be covering. More basic training takes less time and First Aid courses that go into more detail will last longer. Generally speaking, our First Aid courses range from one hour to a total of ten hours, including face-to-face time and reading time.

3. The Date and Time of Courses in Varsity Lakes and Coomera Centres

It’s important to choose a date and time that work into your schedule seamlessly so you are not under pressure arriving or leaving. If possible, book your course on a day when you don’t have too much else on so that you can focus on the training and get as much out of the course as possible. If your mind is thinking about where you need to be next or you’re constantly watching the clock, you might miss some key elements.

First Aid courses in Varsity Lakes operate regularly from Monday to Saturday and even some Sundays. At our Coomera training facility, courses and times often vary so be sure to contact us or visit our course calendar for upcoming courses. The times of the courses are varied, giving you some flexibility to find a First Aid course that works around your existing schedule and your location. 4. Necessary Physical Requirements

Administering First Aid, and particularly CPR, can be quite a physical effort. It’s crucial that you are honest with yourself in terms of your physical abilities to ensure that you are capable of utilising the skills you will learn on the course, should you ever need to.

Most people of reasonable physical ability should be able to take part in our First Aid training courses. However, all courses (with the exception of the Baby First Aid Course) require participants to complete anywhere from 2-8 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin lying on the floor. If for any reason, you think this physical exertion might be too much, speak to one of our team before booking a First Aid course in Varsity Lakes or Coomera.
