Critical CellAED Recall: What You Need to Know Right Now
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued a critical recall for CellAED defibrillators following the liquidation of the manufacturer, RRR Manufacturing Pty Ltd.
This is a serious safety alert for individuals, workplaces, schools, sporting clubs, medical centres, and organisations across Australia who currently own or rely on a CellAED device.
Defibrillators are designed for one purpose: to save lives during sudden cardiac arrest. If your device is unsupported, unreliable, or unable to be serviced, it may not be safe to rely on it in an emergency.
What has happened with the CellAED recall?
RRR Manufacturing Pty Ltd, the company behind CellAED, has entered liquidation. As a result, CellAED owners may no longer have access to:
- Ongoing product support
- Servicing, maintenance, and fault handling
- Replacement parts or replacement devices
- Reliable warranty or manufacturer support
Without this support, your CellAED device can’t be guaranteed to function safely or effectively when it is needed most. Thankfully, the TGA has acted quickly by issuing a critical recall due to the potential life-threatening risks associated with unsupported medical devices.
Why this recall is important
In a sudden cardiac arrest emergency, every second counts. A defibrillator needs to work immediately and efficiently. There isn’t time to question whether the device will power on, deliver a shock, or perform as intended.
Without comprehensive support, a CellAED device may:
- Fail to deliver a shock
- Malfunction during an emergency
- Create a risk of serious harm or death
The TGA has stated that without ongoing support, there is an increased risk of safety or performance problems, and the device may not work as intended in an emergency.
What you should do
If you own or manage a CellAED device, you should take action now.
1. Stop using the device:
Remove the CellAED from service immediately. Do not rely on it during an emergency.
This means taking it out of:
- AED cabinets
- Work vehicles
- Public access points
- First aid rooms
- Sporting club facilities
- Workplace emergency stations
Once removed, it should be replaced with a trusted, supported defibrillator.

No replacement stock available
Because the manufacturer has stopped operations, there are no replacement units, parts, or support options available for CellAED devices. This means replacing your device is not optional. It is essential.
If your current AED cannot be supported, serviced, or trusted in an emergency, it should be removed and replaced with a reliable alternative.
Why First Aid Accident & Emergency never stocked CellAED
As a trusted defibrillator supplier, First Aid Accident & Emergency made the decision not to stock CellAED devices. This decision was based on concerns around:
- Clinical reliability
- The low-energy shock output of the device
- Real-world emergency performance
- Low Ingress Protection rating
- The importance of proven devices with a strong track record in saving lives
This TGA recall has reinforced those concerns. When it comes to life-saving equipment, reliability must always come first.
Choose a trusted AED supplier
Not all defibrillators are the same. A quality AED must be backed by strong manufacturer support, demonstrate proven emergency performance, and have ongoing servicing options.
When choosing a replacement AED, look for a device that is:
- TGA-approved
- Supported with servicing, parts, and training
- Proven in real emergency scenarios
- Designed with a high shock protocol
- Built with a high IP rating
- Backed by ongoing support
