Important LVR COURSE Info:

The Low Voltage Rescue and CPR Course incorporates the units UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a live LV panel *and HLTAID009 Provide CPR*.

The Low Voltage Rescue and Provide CPR certification is valid for 12 months from date of issue. Moreover, this certification is nationally recognised.  Additionally, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion. 

The Low Voltage Rescue and CPR Course incorporates the units UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a live LV panel *and HLTAID009 Provide CPR*.

In particular, participants will gain the skills and knowledge to risk assess an electrical job, set up the area, observe and rescue a person that has encountered energised parts or suffered an explosive injury from a switchboard, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Additionally, this course applies to electrical workers, spotters and trade assistants that may work on or around energised circuits.

Duration: 3 hours. 

This course is delivered face to face. Therefore, no online learning required.

Additionally, the assessments conducted in this course are written, practical and scenario-based assessments.

Low Voltage Rescue & CPR Course: $80.00 per person.

Course fee includes all learning materials and A4 electronic Statement of Attainment.

Student/Concession Fee: $75.00 per person.

However, you must be able to present a valid student card/concession card (senior, healthcare, pensioner card). Inability to present a valid ID on the day will result in the balance of the standard fee being payable.

Have six (6) months of job experience within the electrical industry.

Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under the age of 18 are required to provide a consent form completed by their legal guardian which can be accessed by clicking here.

There are no pre-requisites for this course, however participants need to meet the minimum physical and LLN requirements.

The HLTAID competency standards require participants to demonstrate the physical ability to deliver effective first aid in real emergencies.

Assessment requirements include:

  • 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin (on the floor)
  • 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant manikin (on a firm surface)
  • Placing an unconscious breathing person into the recovery position
  • A one-man drag (moving a patient at least 3 metres)
  • Active participation in first aid and medical emergency role-plays

Important: A Statement of Attainment cannot be issued if these requirements are not met. FAAE is unable to adjust or modify these practical standards, even if the qualification is required for your job.

Participants will require sufficient LLN skills to successfully complete the course. These skills/tasks are:

  • Basic reading and writing skills in English
  • Ability to listen and understand verbal communication in English
  • Ability to count to 30, calculate basic ratios, use a timer and tell the time
  • Read and answer multiple choice questions in English
  • Fill in an accurate incident report form

Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency:

  • UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

In most cases a Statement of Attainment in the form of an A4 electronic pdf will be emailed on the day of training provided that the following conditions are met:

  • Successful completion of the required assessments
  • Verification of a valid USI
  • Course fees are paid in full

Where your training falls outside of normal business hours your Statement of Attainment will be emailed the next business day.

Low Voltage Rescue and Provide CPR is valid for 12 months from date of issue. In fact, the current Electrical Safety Act requires competency to be reassessed in rescue and resuscitation every 12 months.

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult manikin on the floor for 2 min, application of an AED
  • Placing an unresponsive  patient into the recovery position.
  • Complete an accurate incident report form based on a simulated first aid scenario
  • Give an accurate verbal report of a first aid scenario.
  • Perform CPR on an infant manikin on placed on a firm surface for 2 min.
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Manage a casualty with asthma
  • Manage a choking casualty
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock
  • Manage minor wound management and cleaning.
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain or strain
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation from a snake bite.

Theory assessment: 

Furthermore, EXPRESS Course enrolments must complete theory assessment online consisting of multiple-choice questions prior to attending the face-to-face session.

In addition, Standard course enrolments must conduct a written assessment in the course consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Objective of the Low Voltage Rescue Course:

To teach the worker the knowledge and skills required to risk assess an electrical job, set up the area, observe and rescue a person that has come in contact with energised parts, or suffered an explosive injury from a switchboard.

Therefore, this course covers the units UETDRRF004 Perform Rescue from a live LV panel and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Similarly, HLTAID001 has been superseded by HLTAID009. UETTDRRF06 Perform rescue from a live LV panel has been superseded by UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel.

This transition to updated units highlights the importance of staying compliant with the latest regulations, while giving workers the practical skills they need to perform life-saving interventions when it matters most.

Low Voltage Course Gold Coast FAq's

Specifically, the LVR and CPR course is for electrical workers, spotters and trade assistants that may work on or around energised circuits.

To successfully complete the course, participants must be able to:

  • Perform CPR for 2 minutes uninterrupted.
  • Perform in role-play activities.
  • Perform in practical assessments.
  • Move a patient 3 meters (one man drag).

Twelve (12) months.

Specifically, participants are required to:

  • Firstly, have six (6) months of job experience within the electrical industry.
  • be 14 years old or older.
  • and finally, if under 18 year old, have a valid consent form from a parent or legal guardian.

The standard cost for our Low Voltage and CPR course is $80.00 per person. However, the cost for Student/Concession is $75.00 per person.
